THANK YOU
The Rantz Bench Project IS COMPLETE

Someone said,  "benches provide a unique setting for a different kind of conversation, be they internal dialogues, or sitting next to someone as you share a visual perspective of the surroundings."

The iconic *bench scene* offers screenwriters a perfect opportunity for pivotal moments in cinematic storytelling. Plus, benches are perfect places to breathe in, rest and live in the moment.

The NAA and many others continue to remember Gene and Judy Rantz, our dear members who passed in the summer of 2021.  To embrace their uncommon and lightening spirit, our campaign raised funds for the bench now residing outside the Clay Studio.  Come by, take a sit with them.

Plus, there’s another special element here.  Bandit!  Who is Bandit?  Here’s the backstory: In 2016 Gene, upon request by one of our board members, painted a piece of driftwood she was using for a Leelanau UnCaged street directional sign.  Given complete creative liberty, his response?  After examining the driftwood, “I’ll be darned. This looks like a raccoon I had as a kid! That’s what I’ll paint.”

And the legacy of Gene Ranzt continues.  Take a photo of yourself on the bench with “Bandit” and use the hashtag #naabench.
