11/8 Holiday Tags, Tables & Trimmings with Edie Richardson
Saturday, November 8th from 9am to 1pm
Open to all skill levels.
Class Description
Nothing compares to setting a beautiful Holiday table complete with guests’ names on place cards. Whether it’s a Thanksgiving feast, a special Christmas dinner, or a New year’s Eve Buffet, place cards always add a special touch to any table. And people love to see their name on an individual piece of art. You could even use place cards to label the name of the new recipe or food you’re making. You could also use them to warn a guest about a potential food allergy. The possibilities are endless. The only thing that changes is the design. We’ve got you covered.
We’re also going to make gift tags for your Christmas packages. This is a fun one, (actually, they’re all fun) and so very easy. There will be lots of ideas and you can let your creativity soar once you get started. We’ll show you how you can make several at once with one sheet of Watercolor paper. We’ll provide the corner punches and the twine or ribbon.
Trim your tree this year with a special paper ornament. Do you get a new ornament for your tree each year? This class is for you! In fact, these paper ornaments can be that perfect gift – a little something to use as a Hostess gift, or a beautiful thank you for your hair stylist, your child’s teacher, or the neighbor whose always been there when you needed “ a cup of sugar”. These won’t break the bank, but it will be something they can hang on a tree, or on a knob in their workspace at work, or somewhere they can look at it and know you thought of them with a little piece of art.
There will be some easy and simple watercolor instructions so don’t worry if you “can’t paint”. All in all, we’re going to have a very delightful time just in time for the Holidays. We sure hope you can join in the fun!
Edie will bring specialty supplies needed.
Fee of the specialty supplies will be covered by a grant NAA received from the Leelanau Township Community Foundation to help us make classes affordable to the community.

Edie Richardson has been studying the Art of Beautiful Lettering since 1980 when she joined the Michigan Association of Calligraphers. The Calligraphic journey actually began in Junior High when a substitute teacher from England had finished the class’s assignment and started showing the students how to actually make Copperplate flourishes and designs with a piece of chalk. As a member of the Michigan Association of Calligraphers as well as The Chicago Calligraphy Collective and the Ocala Calligraphy Guild she’s been able to learn from incredible Master Penman. Do you know how many ways there are to make an A? LOL. That’s for another day/time. Book making, paper art, watercolor painting and gilding have been a part of her training. Edie has studied with Master Penman both in the United States and from abroad. Edie loves the incredible variety of lettering styles and the many ways to use them. Sharing what she has learned through the years is her delight and joy. Edie is also a member of IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penman Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting) and attends their yearly conferences. So let’s have some fun and learn some of the age-old techniques of using Gold.
