Beginning Pottery on the Wheel June. 16 - July 9th

This is a four week pottery class teaching the basics of wheel-throwing: The process, materials, tools, and techniques. You may be new to wheel throwing or haven’t thrown in a long time. Direct instruction will be given on centering the clay, throwing cylinders and bowls, and glaze instruction. Students can expect to take home 4-6 finished pieces and enjoy getting to know other potters in the community.

Instructor: Lani Hoenscheid-Smith

Lani has 33 years of wheel-throwing experience and 26 years of pottery instruction for both individuals and groups, wheel-throwing & hand-building, teens and adults. She has served as art teacher at Leland Public Schools for the last 23 years. Recently, she completed the On Center wheel-throwing program at La Meridiana International Pottery School. “My focus in making pottery is to bring simple beauty to everyday tableware. As a teacher, I enjoy getting to know my students and passing down the best practices of making pottery.”
