Edie Richardson has been studying the Art of Beautiful Lettering since 1980 when she joined the Michigan Association of Calligraphers. The Calligraphic journey actually began in Junior High when a substitute teacher from England had finished the class’s assignment and started showing the students how to actually make Copperplate flourishes and designs with a piece of chalk. As a member of the Michigan Association of Calligraphers as well as The Chicago Calligraphy Collective and the Ocala Calligraphy Guild she’s been able to learn from incredible Master Penman. Do you know how many ways there are to make an A? LOL. That’s for another day/time. Book making, paper art, watercolor painting and gilding have been a part of her training. Edie has studied with Master Penman both in the United States and from abroad. Edie loves the incredible variety of lettering styles and the many ways to use them. Sharing what she has learned through the years is her delight and joy. Edie is also a member of IAMPETH (International Association of Master Penman Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting) and attends their yearly conferences. So let’s have some fun and learn some of the age-old techniques of using Gold.
