Advanced Botanical Printing on Silk, 8/30 10am-3pm
You will print two scarves and learn the ins and outs of botanical dyeing with an additional natural dye element (pre-dyed and dye blanket.) Handouts will be provided.
If you have some experience with eco-printing, this advanced class utilizes natural dyes that adds a background color of your scarves. You will be using a special pre-mordanted satin silk scarf and layering a natural dye color on before steaming. This class includes two silk scarves.
(If you are new to eco-printing, it is advisable to take the beginner class first.)
The class involves welcome, introduction, then bundling, (break for lunch) then unbundled and review.
Includes 2 prepared 100% pure satin silk scarves and use of instructor’s supplies including natural dyes, blankets and plastic.
Karin will provide botanicals that she knows will print well.
Class size limited to 8 Adults.
Students bring: Rubber gloves to protect hands and wear old clothes or apron to protect from splashes and stains.
