Come and take advantage of learning a traditional printmaking method.

The $20.00 fee for supplies covers all the supplies for this class.
Come to class with an apron or shirt to protect your clothing from ink.
ALSO - bring to the first class an idea for a small line drawing 4” x 4” in size.
Keep it simple.

In this class, we will do traditional etchings from zinc plates.
The following will take place: drawing your design on the plate, etching it in an acid bath, inking and wiping the plate, and finally, printing it on the etching press. We will strive to make an edition of at least 3 from this etching plate. Following the print on the small plate (4” x 4”) we will do a larger etching (4.5” x 6”) doing more of the preparatory work on the plate that had been done for you on the small one.
Again, the goal is to produce a quality edition of 3 or more prints from this plate. The electric Wright Press we will use is not only for etching, but prints woodcuts, lithographs, embossments, monoprints, and more. It delivers the great amount of pressure needed for printing our etching plates.

Etching like most printmaking, is process oriented. Time in this class will be spent in following steps that will insure your print is of high quality. With these skills in place, lots of creative changes can be made that will produce exciting art pieces.

Class will take place at Denice's studio
