MARY GUNTZVILLER

Producing art is as essential as breathing to me. It imparts joy, satisfaction, apprehension, and relief. Every time I create, I am complete. I am in control and yet taking the biggest risk of my life.

A graduate of Wayne State University with a degree in Fine Art, my artwork  visually shares my experiences of joy, life, and loss.

Teaching since 1993, my most important goal is instilling confidence in the students. I have taught at many of the art centers in Northern Michigan, plus Battle Creek, South Haven, Tustin, and Mackinac Island, Ohio, and St. John, Virgin Islands.

Quilting Arts Magazine and Art of the Sleeping Bear Dunes, Transforming Nature into Art, have both published my work and I’ve illustrated a children’s book, McGillicutty, A Very Special Bear.

I have been the juror for the Crooked Tree Arts Outdoor Art Fair, Traverse City, MI and for the ArtRapids! Outdoor Art Fair, Elk Rapids, MI.
