Kat Dakota

I pursued a creative track throughout my life, but it wasn’t until my late 50’s I discovered painting as my passion.

I aspire to paint loosely, wet into wet, to capture “what matters” – heart, a pet or animal’s spirit, an individual’s essence, an experience or memory. This desire creates challenges and frustrations – feelings I now gratefully accept. Afterall, my silent inner soul wants an audible external voice.  And it wants to be heard through paint strokes.  No wonder my internal questions are generally audible – so my friends say.  And no wonder it’s called art “work”.  But with courage the reward arrives.  It emerges immediately after I confidently say, “This piece is finished”. And then what? I welcome the next challenge.

My inspiration comes from God’s creative compositions, the grateful and giving people who surround me and the interesting people I meet on a daily basis. A good conversation always obliterates my fatigue and fuels my creative spirit.

I’m not seeking a “formula” or “style” – but I hope you recognize my work through my exploration and ability to create art that “speaks”.

I’m not sure what’s next.  Follow me and we’ll both find out.
